Old drains, new solutions.

By using our Smartlock repair system and relining patches a client was able to reduce the cost of repair by targeting damaged assets without impacting operations.  

The Problem:

Our client had a severely damaged drain next to a café in parkland gardens with significant trees and hard landscaping surrounding it. The drain was so badly damaged that any time there was a rain event access to the café was compromised and the community were unable to use the gardens. 

The Solution:

New Plumbing Solutions (NPS) is committed to investigating and investing in new, innovative technologies to solve old problems. Upon inspection, while large sections of the drains were in good condition, NPS identified a number of damaged sections which were causing the flooding. To avoid the costly and disruptive “dig-and-repair” method of corrective works, NPS was able to propose a blended relining and Smart Lock solution.

Smart Lock is a ‘no-dig’ patching solution for drains that are cracked and allow root infiltration. The Smart Lock method is a simpler method of repair, whereby the drains undergo CCTV inspections to pinpoint the most damage impacted sections of the drains. The simple installation and efficient cure time of utilising Smart Lock means the job can be completed with minimum disruption.

The Outcome:

Our solution recommended for over 20 Smart Locks to be installed and one section of pipe to be relined. Given the issues were rectified only where there was specific damage, the solution provided a cost-effective outcome, and the trenchless technology solution utilised ensured there was no business interruption.
